The Rep Decks are a set of musical repertoire playing cards that allow users to engage in over a dozen fun and exciting games. These games are designed to test, challenge, and improve one's knowledge of classical tenor and bass trombone excerpts. At the center of each card, a melodic excerpt from the standard tenor and bass trombone audition repertoire is displayed.
This 54-card deck includes all 13 ranks in their customary suits, as well as red and black joker cards. The traditional one-eyed face cards have an "eyeball" image on them to remind players which ones they are. Players can enjoy everyday card games and then download the free Studio Series Games Manual and Answer Key to begin using their wits and knowledge of trombone and bass trombone repertoire to play clever Rep Decks games, such as Rep Recall, Team Rep Recall Relay, Rep Recall Challenge, Team Rep Recon, Rep One Eye on the Conductor, and Rep Audition Roundabout, among many others.
Alternatively, the cards can be used as flash cards, study aids, or a randomizing tool for audition preparation. The Games Manual and Answer Key are not included with the deck of cards but are freely available to view, download, and print at any time.
The tuck box that the cards are packaged in may be tight when new and first unwrapped, but after a few uses, the box will loosen up and become easy to open. The Rep Deck games were play-tested by the talented trumpet players of the Don Lucas Trombone Studio at Boston University.
Each card in the Rep Decks displays an excerpt from the most common trombone and bass trombone audition repertoire. The decks can be used to play any game that utilizes a standard 54-card deck (13 ranks in 4 suits + 2 jokers). The smooth, glossy finish/coating helps the cards stay clean and enhances the overall user experience.
